Bessie H. Payne Organization Inc.
 

Named in honor of Bessie H. Payne, a dynamic leader, community member, woman and past president of the Poughkeepsie Neighborhood Club Inc., the Bessie H. Payne Organization Inc. is a 501c3 organization that works in conjunction with the Poughkeepsie Neighborhood Club Inc. for the betterment of the community.

The purpose of the Bessie H. Payne Organization Inc. is to serve the underserved community of Hudson Valley NY, by providing critical resources to those most disadvantaged.

The focus of the work of the Bessie H. Payne Organization Inc. will be women, youth, and senior citizens. The Bessie H. Payne Organization Inc. will work to provide critical resources to these groups through:

  1. Quarterly parenting classes, and ongoing support for new parents to improve the familial bond.

  2. Free tutoring services for those youth in need to increase academic success.

  3. Food outreach program to serve senior citizens with limited resources.

The importance of the work of the Bessie H. Payne Organization Inc. is to benefit the community by building a relationship with the community, all while being a part of the community. This is critical within Hudson Valley, NY as many disadvantaged communities currently are disconnected from the necessary resources to move ahead within their respective communities.

The Bessie H. Payne Organization Inc. will provide funding for these programs through private donations, fundraising and grants. All funds raised will be used for the sole purpose of the Bessie H. Payne Organization Inc. All work of the Bessie H. Payne Organization Inc. will be performed by non-paid volunteers.

The Bessie H. Payne Organization Inc. is currently able to achieve this goal through the shared and different experiences of its members. Current membership consists of a vast variety of women of color who are in the unique position to address the current issues facing women, youth and senior citizens in the Hudson Valley, NY due to their different socio-economic and educational backgrounds.
